This Wasn't Planned

Change of Plan

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."
- Proverbs 16:9

Sometimes our plans are different than the Lords. I was supposed to leave for Kenya on July 10th. But after many discussions and carefully reviewing my financial support targets with Africa Inland Mission, the decision has been made to delay my move to the Fall.

Before I can begin working as the Child Safety Coordinator I need to attend an Africa Based Orientation (ABO) training. This training happens 3 times a year (July, October, and January). Therefore move has been postponed till October.

How am I feeling?

  • I feel disappointed that I won't be able to start the school year on time and I'm sad about missing the July ABO which Courtney and Andrew were going to be at.
  • I feel thankful for all of the incredible support I've received from AIM in light of all of these changes.
  • I feel at peace about the change of plans, trusting that God has a plan and he knows what's best for me and everyone involved.
  • I feel relief because I was feeling overwhelmed by everything I needed to get done in the last month before I left and now I have more time to get things done.
  • I feel encouraged by all of the people and churches who have reached out to me the past few weeks with an interest in joining my support team.

I'd like to say a big "Thank You" to all of you have already given to my missions account! Because of your generosity, my account is at 66% of the amount I need to raise a month. Lord willing, my goal is to leave for Kenya in October. In order to do this, I need to be at 100% by September 10th (my new financial target day). I still have a way to go, but I know this goal can be reached with your help.

This month, I'm looking for individuals or families who would be willing to commit to monthly support by praying and giving an amount ($10, $25, $50, $100) each month. Every $50 represents another crayon coloured in on this support tracker.

May 31st - I wrapped up my last day at Plan to Protect with a goodbye party. I'm so glad I was able to say thank you to many of my coworkers and clients.

June 27 - I had a 3-hour appointment to finalize my Psychological assessment - a requirement from Africa Inland Mission before sending anyone to the mission field.
