As I write this letter, I am currently sitting in the airport ... Africa, here I come! It's crazy to think I am headed to Rift Valley Academy (RVA) a boarding school for missionary kids in Kenya. I'll be at RVA for the next couple of weeks on a vision trip and I can't wait to see what God is going to show me and how he will use me.
I just wanted to send you a quick note with a few updates, prayer requests and information on how you can follow my journey as God takes me beyond my comfort zone. Thank you for your support, prayers, encouragement and love.
What is a vision trip?
In my last newsletter update, I shared that I felt God was calling me into full-time ministry and I sensed God stirring my heart to work at Rift Valley Academy (RVA) as a Child Safety Coordinator. I also mentioned that in September this year (aka right now) I'd be headed out on a vision trip. After sharing my story, many people asked me, "what is a vision trip?"
Well, a vision trip is an opportunity to explore what it would be like to serve overseas in a specific setting. By travelling to Kenya, I will be able to see the ministry of RVA up close, re-affirm God's calling and discern what is the right fit for me and for RVA. I once heard a missionary say, "It's not that you have to go on a vision trip to answer every question and have the perfect plan. You still have to step out in faith. You're going to catch the Lord's vision, not your own, so you have to listen."
I believe God is calling me to serve at RVA and this vision trip will help me see how my experience, training, and passion specifically fits on the mission field. I'm going with ears open and a heart ready to hear what God has to say. And that is what a vision trip does - it turns passion into a plan by making it practical. My heart is open to learning from the field what is needed and how I can be a part of it.

Please pray for me and RVA as we discern whether God is calling me to RVA and what roles would be the best fit for me and my skills.

I'm hoping to be able to do some training, policy writing/reviewing and/or consulting while I'm out there. Please pray for opportunities, insight and the ability to help where most needed.
