Movie Review: The Greatest Showman

So yesterday I wrote a post all about my favourite movies of all time and today I realized that I probably should have added another movie to the list... The Greatest Showman. I recently watched this movie and I was completely blown away and enamoured by the storyline and characters.

I promise there won't be any spoilers... but here's the gist. Orphaned and penniless, son of a tailor, P.T Barnum dreams of a world filled with colour, excitement and amazement. Through a bit of tomfoolery and a dash of charm and deceit, Barnum manages to open a wax museum which he soon turns into a circus full of peculiar, extraordinary and never-before-seen live acts. Hungry for acceptance and the applause of the respectable, Barnum gambles everything on Jenny Lind an English Opera Signer. But how far will he go before he realizes what is really important?

When I stepped into the theatre with my mom a few weeks ago, I had no idea that it was a musical but I was pleasantly surprised. I left the theatre and immediately downloaded the soundtrack. The score was incredible... maybe my favourite part of the entire movie, next to the characters.

But how could you not fall in love with the motley crew of misfits and oddities that make up the cast of The Greatest Showman. Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum was so believable and truly brought the showman to life.

I was seriously beaming the entire time as watched magic happens right before my eyes - I think this might be my favourite movie that I've seen in years. One thing I know for sure... it definitely deserves a spot on the favourites of all times list.

"The noblest art is that of making others happy." - P.T. Barnum
